China Excavator Sales Rise 36.2% In May 2026 As Exports Grow

China’s excavator market maintained strong momentum in May 2026, with growth coming from both domestic demand and overseas shipments. According to data released by the China Construction Machinery Association, major manufacturers sold 24,794 excavators in May, an increase of 36.2% year on year. Domestic sales reached 11,628 units, up 38.6%, while exports increased 34.2% to 13,166 units.

Domestic And Export Demand Move Together

The May figures are particularly notable because domestic sales and exports expanded at similar rates. Export volume also exceeded domestic sales during the month, underlining the importance of international markets to China’s construction machinery industry.

From January through May 2026, total excavator sales reached 126,875 units, representing year-on-year growth of 24.7%. Domestic sales totaled 68,127 units, up 18.5%, while exports reached 58,748 units, increasing 32.9%.

The combination of improving domestic demand and faster export growth suggests that the current market improvement is supported by more than one source of demand. For construction machinery manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, this creates opportunities across both new equipment and the longer-term service market.

What This Means For The Excavator Aftermarket

Growth in excavator sales also gradually increases the installed base of machines that will require maintenance throughout their operating life. As excavators accumulate working hours, components within diesel engine and fuel injection systems become increasingly important to maintenance workshops, equipment owners and parts distributors.

This creates continuing demand for products such as common rail injectors, high-pressure fuel injection pumps, injector nozzles, control valves and other diesel engine components.

The aftermarket effect can become particularly important in overseas markets. Machines exported today may remain in operation for many years, while local distributors and repair workshops need reliable replacement parts to keep equipment working.

Accurate parts identification therefore becomes increasingly important. The same excavator series may use different engines or fuel-system configurations depending on production year and regional specification. Buyers should confirm the injector number, fuel pump number, engine model, machine model or existing part before ordering.
